About the Daniel Morcombe Foundation

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in honour of
Daniel Morcombe to make Australia a safer place for children.

It was founded by parents Bruce and Denise after their son was abducted and murdered in December 2003 while waiting to catch a bus on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The aims of the Foundation are to educate children and young people about how to stay safe in physical and online environments and to support young victims of crime.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation's aim is to see a future where all children and young people are provided with education, protection and support to be safe from abuse and risk of harm.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation provides personal child safety education to children and young people to prevent abuse and promote lifelong health and wellbeing. We support educators, parents and carers through the provision of resources and education and also directly support young victims of crime.

All of the acts in the show are happy to help and support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation that is so close to all of our hearts.

Why are we doing this event?

By Nature, people are very charitable and are willing to give back to their community, in hopes of creating change, rising each other up, and overall support for one another.

The goal behind this event is to raise awareness within our community of child safety and how the Daniel Morcombe Foundation hopes to create a future for children in Australia where they are free from harm and abuse.

The Greatest Show Spectacular’s Executive Director, Alex Meadows grew up in Queensland, where she followed the events of Daniel's abduction from beginning to end, and chose this charity for its passion to educate children and young people to prevent abuse and promote lifelong health and wellbeing.

The event is being held on the 30th of July, as it is the UN’s designated day for World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
